2 LPG cylinders will be available for free, 10% VAT on CNG-PNG also reduced: Gujarat Govt's gift

Giving relief to the general public, the Gujarat government has given a big gift before Diwali. Under the new announcement, 2 LPG cylinders will be given free of cost to the beneficiaries of Pradhan Mantri Ujjwala Yojana in Gujarat throughout the year.

New Delhi: Giving relief to the general public, the Gujarat government has given a big gift before Diwali. Under the new announcement, every household in Gujarat will be given 2 LPG cylinders free of cost throughout the year. Apart from this, the Gujarat government has also decided to cut VAT on CNG-PNG.


Gujarat Education Minister Jitu Vaghani has given this information. Announcing this, Vaghani said that citizens and housewives will get a relief of Rs 1,000 crore. Apart from this, the minister said that the state government has decided to provide two cylinders free of cost for a year.


He said that this decision has been taken keeping in mind about 38 lakh housewives. The minister said that the relief that has been fixed for this scheme is Rs 650 crore, out of which up to Rs 1,700 can reach people's homes or pockets.


The minister also announced a 10 per cent reduction in VAT on CNG and PNG the government on Monday. He said that if we consider a 10 per cent reduction in CNG, then there will be a profit of Rs 6-7 per kg. Similarly, there is going to be a profit of Rs 5-5.50 per kg on PNG.


He termed this announcement of the state government as comprehensive and also considered it a Diwali gift from the state government. He said that this would benefit the beneficiaries of the Pradhan Mantri Ujjwala Yojana.


He said that the entire amount would be deposited directly into their accounts. The assembly elections are going to be held in Gujarat by the end of the year. This decision is also being told as a step to woo the public. Currently, the CNG price in Ahmedabad city is Rs.83.9 per kg.
