After Joshimath, crisis looms in UP, now cracks seen in 15 houses of Auraiya, investigation started

Right now the problem is present in the homes of 15 people living in the two localities and a few others. Moolchandra Agarwal of Vidhichandra locality, whose house is showing cracks, says that we have invested her whole life's earnings in this house, and now we are not able to understand what to do.

New Delhi: After the Joshimath crisis in Uttarakhand, cases of landslides are continuously in the headlines. After Joshimath in Uttarakhand, people are in panic due to cracks in the houses of Karnprayag. At the same time, cracks appeared in the houses of Aligarh and Baghpat in Uttar Pradesh. Meanwhile, cracks are now being seen in houses in UP's Auraiya district as well. Around 15 houses have developed cracks in Auraiya.


Cracks were reported in houses in the Madar Darwaza and Vidhi Chandra areas of the Auraiya district. A team of officials from the Public Works Department (PWD) reached the spot and launched an investigation, though the exact cause of the cracks in the houses is yet to be ascertained. There are about 1,000 to 1,300 houses in both localities. Cracks have started appearing in some pucca houses built here in the last few months.


'I have spent my whole life's earnings in the house'

Initially, the local people considered the reason for this to be rain. Later, due to cracks in the foundation, roof and walls of more than 15 houses, people got scared, due to which the district administration became alert. The problem is currently present in the homes of 15 people living in the two localities and a few others. Moolchandra Aggarwal of Vidhichandra locality, whose house is showing cracks, says, we have invested our whole life's earnings in this house, now we are not able to understand what to do, as of now we have rented houses in the neighboring locality. I have decided to shift.


'The stone on the floor is also cracked'

He said, "The administration is not looking very serious right now. We have informed the officials about this long ago, but why this situation has arisen is yet to be known. Cracks have also appeared in the houses of Madar Darwaza." The stone on the floor has also cracked and there is a crack in the centre of the lintel."


District Magistrate Prakash Chandra Srivastava told that the case of cracks in some houses has come to the fore. He said that a PWD team has inspected the houses and the exact reason would be known only after the report is received. Executive Engineer Public Works Department Abhishek Yadav said that prima facie the reason for the cracks in the houses is believed to be leakage of water from the tube well, although the situation will be clear only after the completion of the investigation.
