After Naqvi's resignation, Smriti Irani got minority, Jyotiraditya Scindia additional charge

Union Minister for Women and Child Development, Smriti Irani has got the additional charge of the Ministry of Minority Welfare. Civil Aviation Minister Jyotiraditya Scindia has been given additional charge of the Ministry of Steel.

New Delhi: After the resignation of Mukhtar Abbas Naqvi and RCP Singh from the Union Cabinet, Union Women and Child Development Minister Smriti Irani has been given additional charge of the Ministry of Minority Welfare. While Civil Aviation Minister Jyotiraditya Scindia has been given additional charge of the Ministry of Steel.


Mukhtar Abbas Naqvi has resigned from the post of Minority Welfare Minister this evening itself. At the same time, RCP Singh, a minister at the Center from JDU quota, tendered his resignation from the post of Steel Minister. Both the ministers attended the cabinet meeting held today. On the advice of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the President has accepted the resignations of Naqvi and RCP Singh.


Smriti Irani is a Lok Sabha MP from Amethi and she defeated Congress leader Rahul Gandhi in the 2019 elections. At the same time, Jyotiraditya Scindia is a Rajya Sabha MP from BJP. He joined the Bharatiya Janata Party in March 2020 by resigning from Congress.
