The Indian Army is committed not only to giving equal rights to women without gender discrimination but will also help in building a career. This assurance has been given by Army Chief General MM Naravane himself. The Army Chief was speaking at an event organized by the FICCI-Ladies Organization (FLO) on Wednesday.
He said that the way women are establishing their influence in the society, women empowerment will not remain as a statement, but will prove to be a fact. According to General Naravane, in the next 15 years, women will get equal participation in every part of the country and society. He said that women will also get command-posting in the army.
According to the Chief of the Army Staff, the way women's participation is increasing, all organizations will need to improve the work culture. Giving the example of an interview of a female military officer, he explained how women are being promoted in the army. He told that now women are also being recruited in the army for the post of a jawan.
General Naravane said that every countryman expects a lot from the army, whether it is peacetime or war or any natural calamity, and the army will always live up to the trust of the countrymen. On this occasion, women officers of the army were honoured by FICCI-FLO for their outstanding work. One of them was Lieutenant Colonel Sofia Qureshi of the Army. His great-grandmother was with Rani Lakshmibai. All the women officers also shared their experiences of becoming soldiers and army.
