Bad intentions of the enemy are being foiled in Jammu and Kashmir: LG Manoj Sinha

The Lt Governor said, we received 8400 applications from Kashmiri Pandits, whose land and the property were forcibly usurped in 1990. The administration is working to ensure that such properties are recovered.

New Delhi: The official parade and other celebrations in connection with the 74th Republic Day of the country passed off peacefully across Jammu and Kashmir on Thursday without any untoward incident being reported from anywhere.


Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha took the salute of the parade after unfurling the national flag at Maulana Azad Stadium in Jammu. Contingents of police, paramilitary, army and school children marched from the podium while the audience applauded their disciplined march.


Addressing the gathering, Lt Governor Sinha said that the security agencies are busy in attacking terror, its ecosystem and its supporters to ensure lasting peace in the Union Territory. The Lt Governor said, "The Union Territory Administration and the Center have taken several steps for the welfare of security agencies operating in Jammu and Kashmir.

'55% reduction in civilian killings in 2022'

The LG claimed that the situation in Jammu and Kashmir is returning to normal and the nefarious designs of the enemy are being foiled. The year 2022 saw a 55 percent reduction in civilian killings and a significant reduction in killings of security forces personnel.


He said, "A series of developmental initiatives are underway in J&K to take the Union Territory to new heights of achievements. Metros to be built soon in Srinagar and Jammu, tubes to be installed on the Srinagar-Jammu highway."


Jammu and Kashmir will have a women's industrial estate for the first time, while promotions of nearly 2,000 officers, which had not taken place since 2001, are being approved. The special attention of the administration is on the youth.


No untoward incident was reported anywhere in Jammu division during the official parade in Jammu city and other district headquarters where the concerned District Development Commissioners took the salute.


Parade and other celebrations passed off peacefully

The main Republic Day function was held at the Sher-e-Kashmir Cricket Stadium in downtown Srinagar, where RR Bhatnagar, advisor to the lieutenant governor, unfurled the national flag and took the salute of the parade. Despite the bitter cold, a large number of people turned up to watch the parade and participate in government programs.


The parade and other celebrations related to Republic Day passed off peacefully in Srinagar city and all other district headquarters of the Valley. Despite heavy deployment of security forces and other tight security arrangements, life remained peaceful in Srinagar city and the rest of the Valley. No restrictions were imposed anywhere in the Valley on Thursday in view of Republic Day.
