Bill empowering states to list OBCs passed in Lok Sabha, may be introduced in Rajya Sabha today

After the approval of this bill by both the houses, the governments of the state and union territories will be able to list the socially and educationally backward classes.

The bill empowering states to list OBCs has been passed in the Lok Sabha. Voting was held on this on Tuesday. It got 385 votes in favour. At the same time, not a single vote was cast in the opposition. Social Justice and Empowerment Minister Dr. Virendra Kumar introduced this bill. Its name is the Constitution (127th Amendment) Bill-2021. As soon as the bill was passed, the Lok Sabha was adjourned.

After the approval of this bill by both the houses, the governments of the state and union territories will be able to list the socially and educationally backward classes. This power of the states was over after the Supreme Court's decision in the Maratha reservation case.


Support from opposition

The opposition, which was continuously protesting in the house, supported the government on this issue. During the proceedings, Leader of Congress in Lok Sabha Adhir Ranjan Chowdhury said that we want to pass this bill related to the welfare of Other Backward Classes. We understand the responsibility of the opposition. On this, Minister Virendra Kumar said that the Chief Ministers of the states ruled by opposition parties were also demanding to bring this bill. On the other hand, Leader of Opposition in Rajya Sabha Mallikarjun Kharge had also said that the opposition would support this bill.


Ruckus continues in Rajya Sabha

From the Pegasus spy case to inflation, opposition continues in both houses of Parliament. On Tuesday, the ruckus started in the Rajya Sabha and the Lok Sabha as soon as the proceedings started at 11 am and the proceedings of both the houses were adjourned till 12 noon. Then the proceedings of the Lok Sabha started at 12 o'clock. Rajya Sabha proceedings were adjourned till 2 pm due to the uproar. Even after the commencement of the proceedings at 2 o'clock, the uproar did not stop, so the House had to be adjourned till 4 o'clock.


Even after this, the ruckus continued, then the proceedings of the Rajya Sabha were adjourned again. During this, the opposition MPs raised slogans of Jai Jawan-Jai Kisan. They demanded the withdrawal of all three new agricultural laws. Union Minister Narendra Singh Tomar said that the discussion on agriculture had started in Rajya Sabha, but I condemn the undemocratic attitude of Congress, TMC and AAP.


Bill passed in Lok Sabha amid uproar over espionage case

The opposition parties, including the Congress and Trinamool, created a ruckus in the Lok Sabha over espionage and other issues. Due to this the proceedings of the house were adjourned. Amid the uproar, the Lok Sabha passed the Limited Liability Partnership (Amendment) Bill, 2021, the Deposit Insurance and Credit Guarantee Corporation (Amendment) Bill, 2021 and the Constitution (Scheduled Tribes) Order (Amendment) Bill, 2021.


BJP issues whip to MP

Amidst the commotion in the House, BJP has issued a whip asking all its MPs to be present in both the Houses and other meetings on August 10 and 11. Many important bills can be passed in Parliament today and tomorrow.
