Doses applied on Saturday
The ministry said that till 7 pm on Saturday, more than 69 lakh (69,21,097) doses were administered. The daily vaccination numbers are expected to increase with the submission of the final reports of the day by late night, the ministry said.
This is how vaccination started
The nationwide vaccination campaign started on 16 January and in the first phase health workers (HCWs) were given vaccine doses. At the same time, the vaccination of Front Line Workers (FLW), who were fighting against Covid-19, started from 2 February.
Third phase
After this, the next phase of vaccination started from March 1 for people above 60 years of age and people of 45 years and above suffering from other diseases.
Expansion of the vaccination campaign happened
The country started vaccination for all people above the age of 45 from April 1. The government then expanded the vaccination campaign by allowing vaccination of all people above the age of 18 from May 1.
