Foreign Ministry report: Relations with China still complicated, Pakistan conspires against India

In its annual report for the year 2022, the Ministry of External Affairs has been criticizing both its neighbours India and China for their attempts to disturb peace along India's northern and western borders.

New Delhi: India has acknowledged that its ties with China are "complicated", while criticizing Pakistan for consistently sponsoring cross-border terrorism despite New Delhi's efforts to normalize ties. In its annual report for the year 2022, the Ministry of External Affairs has been criticizing both its neighbouring countries for attempts to disturb peace along India's northern and western borders.

The report said, "India's engagement with China is complex. Chinese attempts to unilaterally change the status quo along the Line of Actual Control (LAC) in the western sector starting from April-May 2020 have led to disruption of peace along the LAC." Indian Armed Forces have faced them."

It further added that the External Affairs Minister conveyed to his counterpart that restoration of normalcy would require restoration of peace and tranquillity in the border areas. It was also highlighted that India-China relations are based on three pillars- mutual respect, mutual sensitivity and mutual interest. Both sides engaged through diplomatic (11 meetings of Working Mechanism for Consultation and Coordination since June 2020) and military channels (17 meetings of Senior Supreme Military Commanders (SHMC) since June 2020) to resolve outstanding issues along the LAC Has happened.

India takes initiative for good relations, and Pakistan does not desist from antics

The Annual Report on Pakistan states that India desires normal neighbourly relations with Pakistan. India's consistent position is that any issues, if any, between India and Pakistan should be resolved bilaterally and peacefully in an environment free from terrorism and violence. This is responsibility. However, Pakistan continues to sponsor cross-border terrorism against India, restricting normal trade, connectivity and people-to-people exchanges.

It also states that Pakistan is engaged in hostile and fabricated propaganda to defame India and divert attention from its domestic political and economic failures. India has completely and categorically rejected all actions and statements of Pakistan on matters which are completely internal to India.

Kashmir is an integral part of India, and illegal smuggling of arms to Pakistan

The report said, "There is a broad understanding among the countries that Jammu and Kashmir is an integral part of India and that matters relating to it are internal to India. Despite India's persistent insistence that Pakistan not cede its soil or territory to its territory since January 2004, respects its commitment not to subjugate. There has been no let-up in controls used for terrorism against India, cross-border terrorism, infiltration and illegal smuggling of arms into India across the Line of Control and the International Border."

It further states, "Pakistan has not yet shown sincerity in providing justice to the families of 26/11 Mumbai terror attacks. India calls upon Pakistan to take credible, irreversible and verifiable action to end cross-border terrorism." apply to need
