Lakhimpur Kheri: UP Police has detained Congress General Secretary Priyanka Gandhi going to Lakhimpur Kheri, while Congress has claimed that she has been arrested.
Lucknow: Eight people were killed in the violence during the farmers' protest in Lakhimpur Kheri in Uttar Pradesh on Sunday. Among the dead are 4 farmers, 3 BJP workers and 1 BJP leader's driver. Meanwhile, the UP Police has detained Congress General Secretary Priyanka Gandhi, while the Congress has claimed that she has been arrested.
Priyanka Gandhi was taken to the police line
Priyanka Gandhi left for Lakhimpur Kheri from Lucknow last night. Priyanka Gandhi Vadra's convoy had left for Lakhimpur Kheri by dodging the police. Later, the police took Priyanka into custody from Hargaon in Sitapur and she was taken to the police line. Along with this, Congress leader Deepender Hooda has also been taken into custody.

CM Yogi Adityanath held a meeting
UP CM Yogi Adityanath held a high-level meeting last night regarding the Lakhimpur Kheri case. UP DGP and Additional Chief Secretary Home Avnish Awasthi were also present in the meeting. CM Yogi has issued a statement expressing grief over the violence and said that there will be an investigation and the guilty will not be spared. CM Yogi has appealed to the people not to fall under any illusions. After the violence, there was a claim of shutdown of internet service in Lakhimpur, but the District Magistrate has denied it. ADG Law and Order Prashant Kumar and IG Lakhimpur are present in Kheri.

Police stopped BSP leader Satish Chandra
Before Priyanka Gandhi, BSP general secretary Satish Chandra Mishra also tried to go to Lakhimpur Kheri from his Lucknow residence, but the police did not let him go away from his house. Satish Chandra Mishra asked questions to the policemen about stopping them. The policemen replied that they were not allowed to go to Lakhimpur Kheri for fear of disturbing the peace.
What is the whole matter?
The farmers' protest, which started with a sit-in at the helipad in Lakhimpur Kheri, turned violent, in which 8 people died. Actually, UP Deputy CM Keshav Prasad Maurya was going to visit Lakhimpur Kheri on Sunday. Keshav Prasad Maurya was going to the village of Union Minister of State for Home Ajay Mishra Teni in Lakhimpur Kheri. Ajay Mishra Teni's son Ashish Mishra had arrived to receive Keshav Prasad, but farmers were already present there, who had gathered to oppose Keshav Prasad.
After this the farmers started protesting against Ajay Mishra Teni's son and then the farmers tried to stop the convoy of these leaders, after which Ashish Mishra, son of Union Minister of State for Home Ajay Mishra, allegedly attacked the protesting farmers. In view of the tension in Lakhimpur, the administration has shut down the internet within a 20 km radius of the spot. Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has sent senior police officers including ADG Law and Order to the spot.
