Punjab Chief Electoral Officer orders registration of FIR against Arvind Kejriwal


Punjab Chief Electoral Officer on Saturday asked senior SP of Sahibzada Ajit Singh Nagar to register an FIR against AAP convener and Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal for "violating the model code of conduct and making baseless allegations against other parties". . Following a complaint by Shiromani Akali Dal, Punjab Chief Electoral Officer has ordered senior SP SAS Nagar to register an FIR against Kejriwal.


The Akali Dal vice-president had submitted a video to the Election Commission on the basis of which it has been asked to register an FIR. According to the complaint, this action has been taken against Kejriwal for calling opposition leaders traitors.


Earlier, the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) had filed a complaint with the Election Commission seeking penal action against Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) chief Sukhbir Singh Badal for violating election guidelines even after campaigning came to a halt.


Meanwhile, a case has also been registered against Punjab Chief Minister Charanjit Singh Channi and Congress candidate Sidhu Moosawala for allegedly campaigning in Mansa constituency after the campaign ended on Friday evening.


Based on the complaint of AAP, a case under section 188 (disobedience to order duly promulgated by a public servant) of the Indian Penal Code was registered at City-1 Mansa police station. Let us inform that voting for the 117-member Punjab Assembly will be held on Sunday i.e. February 20. The results will come on March 10.
