Rana couple will meet PM Modi and Home Minister Amit Shah said

A special court here on May 4, while granting bail to the couple, had asked them not to commit similar offenses while on bail and not to interact with the press on any matter related to the case.

Mumbai: Independent MP Navneet Rana and her MLA husband Ravi Rana on Monday said that they are facing the issue of alleged ill-treatment meted out to them by Maharashtra authorities in jail. They will raise it before Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Union Home Minister Amit Shah. Talking to reporters here, Navneet Rana said, "Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray, who stabbed the Bharatiya Janata Party in the back", should not teach the lessons of principles to the Ranas.

The Rana couple also denied the allegation that they violated the contempt of court by talking to the media. A special court here on May 4, while granting bail to the couple, had asked them not to commit similar offenses while on bail and not to interact with the press on any matter related to the case.

The Rana couple was arrested by the Mumbai Police on 23 April. He had announced that he would recite 'Hanuman Chalisa' outside Chief Minister Thackeray's personal residence 'Matoshree' here, which angered Shiv Sena workers.

Navneet Rana said, "We are going to Delhi today and will meet all those leaders who respect women. I am going to meet the Prime Minister, (Union) Home Minister and the Speaker of the Lok Sabha and tell them how we were treated badly from lock-up to jail. I am going to complain about it."

'Sanjay Raut threatened to bury'

Describing Shiv Sena MP Sanjay Raut as a "parrot", Navneet Rana alleged that he had talked of "burying the couple". "We had lodged a complaint against it here, but no action was taken," he said. That's why I am going to Delhi to raise this issue."

He also denied contempt of court by speaking to the press. "We didn't talk about the crime, how it was registered against us, reading 'Hanuman Chalisa' and talking about Matoshree. We talked about how badly I was treated from lock-up to jail and how my health issues were ignored.

The Lok Sabha MP from Amravati asked what would happen to the common man if a public representative like him could be treated "in this manner" in Maharashtra. He said that Chief Minister Thackeray should learn about running the government from his predecessor and BJP leader Devendra Fadnavis. He said, "Devendra Fadnavis ji ran the government for 5 years, but he was not such a rascal. Thackeray should learn from Devendra sahib how and with what sentiments the Maharashtra government is run."

Demand for cancellation of bail of Rana couple, Mumbai Police applied in the special court

Ravi Rana, MLA from Badnera in Amravati, hit out at Chief Minister Thackeray even after the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation issued a notice to the residential society where he lives. BMC has issued this notice on the complaint of illegal construction.

He said, "Thackeray should inspect our flat online as he is working only online for the last two and a half years." Can those who are sitting empty. If you have any problem then you can send them to take measurements of the house. We will welcome them."

To a question, Ravi Rana said that Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar should inquire about the alleged misbehavior of the couple in lock-up and jail. On Pawar's remarks that tea was given to the couple, he said, "We were treated worse than a criminal."
