BJP had given a chance to 104 new faces in the election, out of which 80 won the election and will go to the assembly for the first time.
Despite all the opposition and pressure, BJP cut the tickets of 80 MLAs including three ministers. While 14 MLAs, including three ministers, left the BJP before the elections and joined the SP. Due to this, new faces were given opportunities on these seats as well.
BJP's strategy of giving chances to new faces in 104 assembly constituencies has been successful in the UP assembly elections. Out of these 80 candidates got success. On the other hand, the BJP has won 19 seats in 2022 out of the 84 seats it lost in 2017. The figures are telling that if the BJP does not change the candidate, then the election results could have been harmful for the BJP.
The BJP had contested 376 seats out of 403 in the assembly elections. Despite all the opposition and pressure, the party cut the tickets of 80 MLAs including three ministers. BJP had given tickets to 214 MLAs including 45 ministers again. Of these, 170 MLAs (80 percent) won the election. Whereas 44 MLAs including 8 ministers were not liked by the public. Experts believe that even after the displeasure of the workers and the public against the MLAs even before the assembly elections, if 104 new faces were not given a chance, the party could have suffered.
Won 19 seats lost
The BJP had to face defeat in the 2017 assembly elections in 85 seats. The BJP had started election preparations for these seats about two years back. The party gave a chance to new faces in 69 of these 84 seats. Due to hard work of about two years, BJP has won 19 out of 85 seats.
