The administration cancelled the helicopter service on Monday due to the increase in the fierce fire in the hills adjoining the Trikuta Hills of Katra Mata Vaishno Devi.
Earlier on May 1, a lot of problems had to be faced due to fire near Shankaracharya Hill. However, this time the fire has not affected the Vaishno Devi Yatra. But the forest wealth of 5 km radius of Trikuta hill range has been burnt to ashes.
Smoke spread all around
The fire in the forests of Trikuta Mountain located in Katra since late-night has not been extinguished yet. The fire is so fierce that smoke has spread all around. The employees of the Forest Department and Mata Vaishno Devi Shrine Board are trying to extinguish the fire. The administration has also put the Air Force on alert to extinguish the fire.
Due to the strong winds blowing in the dense mountains, the employees are facing a lot of problems in controlling the fire. The smoke spread from the fire has forced the Pilgrims to face difficulties. For this reason, helicopter services are also suspended since morning.
