Varanasi will get the facility of a ropeway, PM Modi will lay the foundation stone

Due to the narrowing of the roads in the old areas of Kashi and the continuous increase in the traffic pressure, there is often situation jam here, due to which the local people have to face problems apart from the local foreign tourists.

New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi will lay the foundation stone of the country's first public transport ropeway project in his parliamentary constituency Varanasi on March 24. Along with this, the work of the ropeway between Cantt Railway Station and Godaulia will start. This project is worth Rs 644.49 crore. The ropeway will run from Cantt Railway Station (Varanasi Junction) to Godaulia Square.


Local people will also get a lot of relief

With this scheme, it will be easy to go to Kashi Vishwanath Temple, Dashashwamedh Ghat. After National Highway, Ring Road, Flyover, ROB in Varanasi, running of ropeway for public transport in the congested area will provide a lot of relief to the domestic and foreign tourists coming to Varanasi as well as the local people.


Convenience for the devotees going for darshan

After the construction of this ropeway, lakhs of devotees going to visit Kashi Vishwanath will have convenience, they will have other options other than auto, tempo and rickshaw. Devotees will be able to get down from the station and go straight to the temple.


In the first phase between Varanasi Cantt to Godaulia

Vice President of Varanasi Development Authority Abhishek Goyal said that the country's first public transport ropeway will be run between Varanasi Cantt to Godaulia in the first phase. India is the third country after Bolivia's La Paz and Mexico

Anurag Tripathi, project director of National Highway Logistics Pvt Ltd, said that India will be the third country in the world and Varanasi the first city after Bolivia's La Paz and Mexico, where ropeway will be used for public transport. He told that this is a pilot project and it will be jointly constructed by Swiss company Bathorlet and National Highway Logistics Private Limited (NHLPL).


There will be a total of 5 stations from Cantt Station to Godaulia Square.

The Project Director said that there will be a total of 5 stations from Varanasi Cantt Station to Godaulia Square, in which stations will be built at Cantt Railway Station, Kashi Vidyapeeth, Rath Yatra, Church and Godaulia Square. The total distance of the ropeway will be 3.8 km, which will be covered in about 16 minutes. About 150 trolley cars will run from a height of about 50 meters.


A trolley can carry 10 passengers: Project director

The project director said that a trolley can carry 10 passengers. Trolleys will be available for passengers at an interval of every one and a half to two minutes. 3000 people will be able to travel in one direction in one hour. This means 6000 people will be able to come in one hour from both directions. The operation of the ropeway will be 16 hours. The rope-way will be ready within 2 years. He told that the work of land acquisition, wire and pipe shifting is going on fast.


Passengers travelling by train-bus will get the convenience

Glimpses of Kashi's art, religion and culture will be seen at all the stations built for the ropeway. Kashi can also be seen on the rope-way trolley. The roadways bus stand is near to Cantt railway station, so the formation of the rope-way station at Cantt station will provide a lot of convenience to both the passengers travelling by train and bus.
