Yogi government's gift to the farmers of UP, 2100 govt tubewells will be installed in 62 districts

UP government's Agriculture Minister Surya Pratap Shahi said that tubewells will not be installed in any dark or gray block under the project.

Lucknow: The Yogi government of Uttar Pradesh has given a big gift to the farmers of the state. In the cabinet meeting chaired by Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath on Tuesday, the government approved the decision to install 2100 government tubewells in 62 districts of the state.


Due to this, on the one hand, farmers will get rid of the problem of irrigation due to less rainfall, on the other hand, due to the installation of these tubewells, new employment opportunities will also be created for the labourers of the state. A total of Rs 842 crore will be spent in this project.


Government's Agriculture Minister Surya Pratap Shahi said in a press conference held at Lok Bhavan that the government would spend Rs 841 crore 98 lakh 83 thousand on this project. With this, apart from general, backward, scheduled castes and tribes, marginal and small farmers of the state will get the benefit of irrigation facilities. The Agriculture Minister said that one tube well would be able to irrigate 50 hectares of fields. At the same time, there will be an additional increase in the irrigation capacity of 1 lakh 5 thousand hectares of land with this scheme.


Tubewells will not be installed in dark or grey blocks.

Shahi said that tubewells will not be installed in any dark or gray block under the project. He informed that this project will start in 2022-2023 and will be completed by 2023-2024. At present 87 percent net crop area is being irrigated in the state. Out of total 143.37 lakh hectare in the state, 107.30 lakh hectare area is being irrigated through government and private tube wells. At present, irrigation facilities are being provided to the farmers through 34,316 government tube wells in the state.



This project started by the government will also create new employment opportunities for MNREGA workers. The work of remote sensing, drilling, development, construction of pump house, laying of 1.2 km underground PVC pipeline under the delivery tank, header and water distribution system, construction of 10 outlets and electrification will be done on each tube well to be constructed under the project.


Free toria seed minikit will be given to farmers

In view of the weak monsoon condition and less rainfall in the state, the Yogi government has decided that farmers will be given free toria seed Minikit. This packet of 2 kg will be given under the scheme of the grant, on which Rs 4 crore 57 lakh 60 thousand will be spent. Free seed mini kits of Toria will be distributed in a transparent manner in the presence and cooperation of Gram Panchayats and public representatives. The farmers will be benefited from this facility on a 'first come-first served basis. Efforts will also be made to ensure the participation of 30 percent of women farmers in this.
