After Mirabai Chanu's bags silver medal at Tokyo Olympics, IOC made a big announcement

India has got an Olympic medal in weightlifting after 21 years because before that Karnam Malleswari won a bronze medal in the 2000 Sydney Olympics. Mirabai Chanu is already considered a medal contender. She secured the silver medal scoring 202 points. Along with this, she has received an influx of congratulations from all over the country, which includes sports personalities as well as big politicians of the country and Prime Minister Narendra Modi himself congratulated her on social media.


Indian Olympic Association Announced

Sports Minister Anurag Thakur has also appreciated her very much. Now the Indian Olympic Association is also proud of this achievement and they have made a big announcement. The Indian Olympic Association has announced that the coach of the player who wins the medal in the Tokyo Olympics will be given a cash prize money. The coach of the gold medal winning athlete will get Rs 12.5 lakh while the coach of the silver medal winning athlete will get ₹ 10 lakh and the coach of the bronze medal winning athlete will get ₹ 7.5 lakh.


Mirabai Chanu's coach Vijay Sharma will get Rs 10 lakh

Indian Olympic Association Secretary General Rajeev Mehta told ANI, "The coach of the athlete who went to the Tokyo Olympics and has trained them will be rewarded in the form of cash. It will be a huge boost for players’ coaches. Rs 10 lakh will be given to Mirabai Chanu's coach Vijay Sharma.” Mirabai Chanu has specially said thank you to her coach Vijay Sharma and she has told that Vijay Sharma worked hard with her, did motivate and trained. Mirabai Chanu was training in the US before winning the medal in Tokyo where Coach Vijay Sharma stayed with her.
