Cheated more than 10 thousand people by creating more than 60 fake websites for online shopping

New Delhi: The Cyber ​​Cell of Delhi Police has busted a Search Engine Optimization (SEO) scam that duped thousands of people through several fake e-commerce websites. Police have arrested five people including mastermind Vijay Arora in this case. The accused had created dozens of fake shopping websites for electronic goods and clothes.


According to Cyber ​​Cell's DCP Aniesh Roy, people looking for online purchase of electronic gadgets and clothes through online searches were told on these fake sites that goods will be available here at very cheap prices. Customers were asked for online payment but no goods purchased by them were sent to them. If the victims repeatedly pressed for a refund, very cheap and substandard goods were sent to cheat them. In this way, this gang cheated more than 10 thousand people of about 25 crores. The cyber cell had received many complaints. The victims had alleged fraud in the purchase of tablets on the website 'www.bookmytab.com'.


Investigating the complaint, the police arrested 37-year-old Vijay Arora, Manmeet Singh, Rajkumar, Pradeep Kumar and Avtar Singh, residents of Paschim Vihar. Main accused Vijay has done hotel management course from Meerut. He started cheating 3 years ago by creating a fake website and since then has created more than 60 fake shopping websites.


Some of the websites created by the accused are 'BookMyTab', 'The Ripped Jeans', 'DailyPoshak', 'Denimty', 'Famidukan', 'Jacobdenims', 'Naridukan', 'Parbazaar', 'SlimfitCollection', 'The Squarezone', 'Clothing', 'Bukamobile', 'Yourmobile' etc.
