New Delhi: Delhi Lieutenant Governor Vinay Kumar Saxena has given permission to worship at the ghats being built for Chhath Puja on the banks of Yamuna. The Lieutenant Governor directed the Delhi government to ensure cleanliness and water for the worship. The Lieutenant Governor of Delhi has also accused Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal of misleading the people of Delhi. He has said that permission has been given to perform Chhath Puja on the ghats of the Yamuna river, as well as it is clear that false propaganda should not be spread among the people. Correct information should be given to the people of Delhi.


According to sources in the Lieutenant Governor's office, Lieutenant Governor Vinay Kumar Saxena has warned Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal. The Lt Governor has objected that the puja was to be held at some selected ghats, but the manner in which it was told by Arvind Kejriwal sent a message that worship could be done anywhere on the Yamuna. The Lieutenant Governor has also directed the Ministry of Revenue and Environment to strictly follow the orders of NGT on the banks of Yamuna.


Filed objection to tweet regarding Chhath Puja

Lieutenant Governor Vinay Kumar Saxena has lodged an objection to Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal's tweet regarding Chhath Puja on October 21. In the guidelines issued regarding the organization of Chhath Puja, the Lieutenant Governor has written that Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal made this publicity even before the matter related to Chhath Puja was brought to his notice for my opinion and consideration.


This issue is very serious and goes against the basic principles of governance. The publicity of this method affects the decision-making process. The Lieutenant Governor has said that in matters related to public interest on a large scale, the Chief Minister is suggested not to do so in future. Let us tell you that in the past, the Delhi government had announced to preparation of 1100 Chhath Ghats for the organization of Chhath Puja, along with a budget of 25 crores has also been kept for Chhath Puja.
