Chirag Delhi flyover will be closed for 50 days from March 12, alternate routes to avoid problems

According to the traffic advisory, the carriageway from Nehru Place to IIT Delhi Flyover will be repaired first and then the carriageway from IIT Delhi Flyover to Nehru Place will be repaired.

New Delhi: Delhi Police has issued a traffic advisory regarding the 'carriageway' of the Chirag Delhi flyover on Outer Ring Road. Actually, this traffic advisory was issued in view of the closure of the carriageway of the Chirag Delhi flyover for 50 days from March 12 due to the repair work being done by PWD. Police said that the repair work on each 'carriageway' would take 25 days and it would be closed to traffic while other 'carriageways' would remain operational. A 'carriageway' is a side part of a main road on which vehicles can travel in one direction only.


Advice on using alternate routes

According to the traffic advisory, the carriageway from Nehru Place to IIT Delhi Flyover will be repaired first and then the carriageway from IIT Delhi Flyover to Nehru Place will be repaired. "Passengers headed to railway stations, airports, hospitals, etc. are advised to plan their departure well in advance and take alternate routes to avoid delays," the advisory said. Commuters going towards Dhaula Kuan, AIIMS, Defense Colony etc are advised to take a right turn under Nehru Place flyover and follow Lala Lajpat Rai Marg towards Moolchand Hospital flyover to their destination.


Entry of heavy vehicles may be banned

The traffic advisory further states, 'Commuters travelling from IIT Delhi towards Greater Kailash and Nehru Place on Outer Ring Road are advised to take a left turn towards Aurobindo Marg from IIT flyover to Ring Road and proceed to their destination. Take a right turn towards Lala Lajpat Rai Marg from under the Moolchand flyover to reach. According to the advisory, movement of heavy and commercial vehicles on the Outer Ring Road towards the Chirag Delhi flyover may be restricted, so that traffic on the stretch to ensure a smooth flow of traffic.
