New Delhi: Many protesting workers and leaders of Congress were taken into custody by the police. Earlier, the gathering of many leaders and workers started appearing at the party office on Thursday morning as the state Congress staged a big protest. In support of Sonia Gandhi, Congress leaders gathered for a foot march from the Congress office to the ED office in the capital of Uttarakhand. Many big leaders, including the state president, the leader of opposition in the assembly, and the former leader of the opposition, rallied. Former Chief Minister Harish Rawat, writing 'Sonia Gandhi Zindabad' on his social media, has described this protest as a struggle for constitutional values.


The ED has summoned Congress Party National President Sonia Gandhi for questioning in a money laundering case related to the National Herald newspaper. Earlier, the ED has also questioned former Congress President Rahul Gandhi in this way. Congress leaders in many states of the country termed this move of the central government as wrong and termed it a misuse of investigative agencies. Now many leaders of Uttarakhand are protesting on foot march against Sonia Gandhi's support and interrogation move.

The process of reaching the leaders of the Congress office for the foot march started around 11 am. Many prominent Congress faces of the state like State President Karan Mahra, Leader of Opposition Yashpal Arya, former Leader of Opposition Pritam Singh, former State President Ganesh Godiyal as well as Manish Khanduri are visible in this march. Significantly, in view of this protest, the Uttarakhand government has deployed a large number of police forces from the Congress office to the ED office. It is being told that in case of any disturbance in the demonstration, workers including Congress leaders can also be taken into custody.
