New Delhi: A total of 158 cases of dengue have been registered so far in this year 2022 in the country's capital Delhi. These include 15 cases registered in July. At the same time, so far 8 patients of Chikungunya and 29 cases of malaria have been reported this year. This information has been given in a report released by the Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD) on Monday.


In July, 15 dengue cases were reported in Delhi, 8 cases of chikungunya and 29 cases of malaria were registered in the capital.

According to the report, 23 cases of dengue were registered in the national capital in January, 16 in February, 22 in March, 20 in April, 30 in May and 32 in June, while 15 cases were reported till 18th in the month of July. Huh. However, at present, not a single case of death due to this mosquito-borne disease has been reported in the capital.


Dengue cases are already being registered this year

Most cases of dengue usually occur between July and November. However, this period may extend till mid-December. MCD officials say that the national capital is already reporting dengue cases this year as the weather is favourable for the breeding of mosquitoes. A total of 9,613 dengue cases were reported in the national capital last year, the highest since 2015. During that time, dengue had killed 23 patients in Delhi. This figure of dengue deaths in Delhi was the highest since 2016.


Delhi witnessed a massive dengue outbreak in 2015

Delhi recorded two dengue deaths in 2019, four in 2018 and 10 in 2017. According to official figures, Delhi reported 4,431 dengue cases in 2016, 4,726 in 2017, 2,798 in 2018, 2,036 in 2019 and 1,072 in 2020. The city witnessed a massive dengue outbreak in 2015 and over 10,600 new cases were reported in October alone. This was the worst outbreak of dengue in Delhi since 1996.
