Singh inaugurated the park in the presence of BJP's Delhi unit chief Adesh Gupta and South Delhi Municipal Corporation (SDMC) Mayor Mukesh Suryan.
New Delhi: Union Defence Minister Rajnath Singh inaugurated this newly constructed park on Tuesday. A gymnasium and yoga centre have also been opened here in the name of Veer Shiromani Maharana Pratap. Sagarpur is a densely populated area, yet the Southern Corporation has developed a green park by finding a place here, it shows the commitment of the corporation towards the environment.
The residents of Sagarpur and its surroundings of South-West Delhi area have got a gift in the form of Indraprastha Park. Union Defence Minister Rajnath Singh inaugurated this newly constructed park on Tuesday. A gymnasium and yoga centre have also been opened here in the name of Veer Shiromani Maharana Pratap.
Work of Southern Municipal Corporation was appreciated
Rajnath Singh appreciated the work of South Delhi Municipal Corporation. Said that Sagarpur is a densely populated area, yet the Southern Corporation has developed a green park by finding a place here, it shows the commitment of the corporation towards the environment. Pure and pollution free environment has been provided near the houses of the people in Sagarpur ward. He said that there is an urgent need to develop parks in a metropolis like Delhi.
Park developed on DDA land
Mayor Mukesh Suryan said that after a long struggle, the place for the park was taken from DDA in the year 2020. Apart from encroachment, anti-social activities on this land, there was a heap of garbage and debris, due to which the local residents were very upset. Local women made a significant contribution in getting it cleaned. The mayor praised the contribution of women. Open gym, gazebo hut, walking track, yoga shelter, swings for children etc. have been made in the park.
Features of the park
The park has been built in an area of about 3.26 acres. About 2500 trees and about 4500 bushes have been planted here. Nine wire figures have been installed, in which the vines will be climbed. A walking track of 477 metres has been made for jogging. Four gazebo huts and 25 RCC benches have been made for seating. Open gym and a yoga shelter, seven types of swings have been installed for children. Three high mask lights, 52 fancy lights have been installed for illumination in the park. A borewell has been installed for irrigation.
