This reduction has been made after the gas prices increased by almost 50 percent in two years. CNG prices were increased 15 times between April, 2021 and December, 2022.
New Delhi: After Mumbai and Gujarat, now CNG vehicle owners in Delhi have got a big relief. Indraprastha Gas, which supplies CNG in Delhi NCR, on Saturday cut the prices of CNG and piped domestic cooking gas (PNG) by up to Rs 6 in Delhi. This is the first cut in gas prices in nearly two years.
The government had implemented a new formula for determining the price of natural gas a day earlier. After that decision, the prices of CNG and PNG have come down in the national capital. Indraprastha Gas Limited (IGL), a firm that retails CNG and pipeline gas in Delhi, said in a tweet that CNG price in the National Capital Territory (NCT) has been reduced from Rs 79.56 per kg to Rs 73.59 per kg. The revised retail price of CNG in Gurugram will be Rs.82.62 per kg from 6 am on April 9, 2023. The revised retail price of CNG in Noida, Greater Noida and Ghaziabad will be Rs.77.20 per kg from 6 am on April 9, 2023.
Similarly, the price of piped domestic LPG in Delhi has come down from Rs 53.59 per standard cubic meter (SCM) to Rs 48.59 per SCM, according to IGL. The new prices will be applicable from April 9. IGL said that the retail prices of CNG and PNG in Delhi are the lowest in the country.
50 percent increase in price in two years
Data shows that the cut has come after an almost 50 per cent increase in gas prices in two years. CNG prices were increased 15 times between April 2021 and December 2022. After April, 2021, CNG prices have increased by Rs 36.16 per kg (83%). CNG price was last increased on December 17, 2022. Similarly, the price of PNG was increased 10 times between August 7, 2021 and October 8, 2022. Its prices increased by Rs 24.09 per SCM ie 81 per cent increase.
