Modi government's big decision: approval to increase MSP on 17 Kharif crops

Increase in paddy price by Rs 100 per quintal union cabinet hikes MSP for Kharif crop: Anurag Thakur informed that this time the minimum support price for all 14 Kharif crops and 17 crops including their varieties has been increased.

New Delhi: The Modi cabinet of the Center has given great news for the farmers. The cabinet on June 8 approved an increase in the Minimum Support Price (MSP) for the season 2022-23 on 17 Kharif crops. The cabinet has increased the MSP of paddy by Rs 100 to Rs 2,040 per quintal. Along with this, the MSP of many crops has been increased.

Farmers will get big relief due to the increase in MSP on Kharif crops. The highest absolute increase in MSP has been recommended for Sesame - Rs 523 per quintal, Moong - Rs 480 per quintal and Sunflower seeds - Rs 385 per quintal as compared to last year. Apart from this, the support price of A-grade paddy has been increased from Rs 1,960 to Rs 2,060 per quintal.

After this increase, farmers will get at least this price for selling the crop. Below this, no trader can buy the crop. The rise of MSP will make the farmers self-reliant, it will promote the central government's scheme 'Atmanirbhar Bharat'. An increase in prices can also lead to more investment and production.
