New Delhi: Union Home Minister Amit Shah will address the National Conference on Drug Trafficking and National Security in Chandigarh on Saturday. During the program, Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) teams will destroy more than 30 thousand kg of drugs recovered in Delhi, Chennai, Guwahati and Kolkata in front of the Home Minister.
According to a top official of the Union Home Ministry, this is the first such national conference in which the Chief Minister of different states and the drug control agency will be on one platform along with the Home Minister of the country.
In this program, besides the Chief Ministers of Haryana, Himachal Pradesh and Punjab, administrators of Chandigarh, Border Security Force, officials of the National Investigation Agency, Narcotics Control Bureau along with the heads of anti-narcotics branch of the states etc. will also be present.
According to the top official of the ministry, during this period 19320 kg were recovered from Delhi in front of the Union Home Minister, 1309 kg recovered from Chennai in Tamil Nadu, 6761 kg recovered from Guwahati in Assam, 3077 kg recovered from Kolkata in West Bengal i.e. 30 thousand kg in total. More narcotics will be destroyed.

According to the Ministry of Home Affairs, the Narcotics Control Bureau, under the leadership of Home Minister Amit Shah, on the call of Prime Minister Narendra Modi's Amrit Mahotsav, took a pledge to destroy 75,000 kg of drugs in 75 years of independence.
In this campaign started by the Narcotics Control Bureau from June 1, 2022, till July 29, a total of more than 51 thousand kilograms of narcotic substances have been destroyed in 11 different states. Tomorrow, including the drugs to be destroyed in front of the Union Home Minister, its total quantity will exceed 81 thousand kilograms.
