New Delhi: Congress's Delhi unit president Anil Chowdhary on Friday hit out at the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP), alleging that the party, which had promised to clear the mountains of garbage in the national capital, "has itself turned out to be garbage". Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal and the BJP should apologize to the people of Delhi for the ruckus in the Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD) building today.

Congress leader Anil Chowdhary alleged, “The party which had assured the public that they would clear the mountains of garbage in Delhi, turned out to be garbage itself. Kejriwal and the BJP should apologize to the people of Delhi for the hooliganism in the Corporation House. This is a gross violation of democratic norms.


Before the election of Delhi Mayor on Friday, 10 'aldermen' (nominated councilors) appointed by the Lieutenant Governor VK Saxena have come under attack from the councilors of Aam Aadmi Party (AAP). Amidst strong protests, the first meeting of the newly elected Municipal Corporation of Delhi was adjourned yesterday without the election of mayor and deputy mayor.


Councilors made Delhi MCD an arena

The uproar had increased to such an extent that the MCD House was adjourned and voting for the Mayor could not be held. The proceedings of the House had to be adjourned following the uproar between BJP and AAP councillors. During the uproar, there was a fierce scuffle between the AAP-BJP councilors and it came to a fight. A new date will now be fixed for the voting of the mayoral election.
