There will be a CBI inquiry into the liquor policy of the Kejriwal government

New Delhi: There will be a CBI inquiry into the liquor policy of the Delhi government, the Lieutenant Governor has ordered a CBI inquiry. Delhi Deputy CM Manish Sisodia may come under the scanner. CBI inquiry has been ordered after the matter of irregularities in the Chief Secretary's report came to the fore.


In the report of the Chief Secretary, there was mention of giving the benefit of 144 crores to the liquor mafia. In fact, the Delhi government had extended the license period of the existing retail liquor shops for the next two months due to the delay in the permission of the Excise Policy 2022-23. This included home delivery of liquor, apart from other licenses. The Delhi cabinet in its meeting held on May 5 had approved the Excise Policy 2022-23.


Gautam Gambhir targeted the Delhi government

Delhi BJP MP and cricketer Gautam Gambhir have tweeted in the case of CBI investigation of liquor policy. In the tweet, he took a jibe at the Kejriwal government of Delhi and wrote 'I have heard that action is also going to be taken against the minister doing liquor business in Delhi! One minister is already in jail, the other is also ready.


Singapore tour proposal was rejected

Earlier, Kejriwal had targeted the central government for stopping him from going to Singapore. He said that he is not a criminal who is preventing him from going to Singapore. In fact, days earlier, the Lieutenant Governor of Delhi had rejected the proposal of the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) government of Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal to visit Singapore to attend a summit on August 1.


Delhi Lieutenant Governor VK Saxena has refused permission for the tour. Arvind Kejriwal wanted to go to Singapore to attend a conference on August 1. According to the legal process, the Delhi government had sought approval from the LG, but this file was pending for a long time.


It was claimed by the Delhi government that Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal has been invited to the conference organized in Singapore. In this, he will outline the development of Delhi. But no response came from the LG office. However, after some time the file was rejected by the LG office.
