New Delhi: The first case of dengue death has been reported in the national capital this year. So far, a total of 723 cases of dengue have been reported here. According to a report released by the civic body on Monday, this year, out of the total dengue cases reported in Delhi, 382 cases have been reported this month till October 16. Dengue cases are on the rise in the city and the first death has been reported, a senior official said. A total of 480 dengue cases were reported in Delhi till October 9 this year. 243 new cases have been registered in a week.
According to a report released by the civic body on Monday regarding mosquito-borne diseases, till October 16, this season till October 16, one person died of dengue and a total of 723 cases were reported. These are the highest number of cases in this period since 2018. According to the report, the number of cases registered in the last three years from January 1 to October 16 stood at 395 in 2020, 644 in 2019 and 1020 in 2018.
According to the data shared by the Delhi Health Department on September 22, 188 dengue cases were registered in September last year and 190 in 2019. Apart from this, 374 cases were registered in 2018, 1103 in 2017, 1,362 in 2016 and 6,775 in 2015. According to the civic body's report, 142 cases of malaria and 69 cases of Chikunguniya have also been reported in Delhi till October 16 this year.
