New Delhi: Protests against the anti-encroachment drive of the South Delhi Municipal Corporation (SDMC) led to a jam in Shaheen Bagh and adjoining areas of the national capital on Monday. Officials said that in the presence of a large number of police personnel, including senior police officers, bulldozers reached Shaheen Bagh to remove the encroachment, after which others including women started protesting there. Due to this, there was traffic jam at other places including Shaheen Bagh, Kalindi Kunj, Jaitpur, Sarita Vihar and Mathura Road.
The traffic police helped the local police so that there was no trouble for the commuters and traffic was diverted at many places. A senior traffic police official said, “First of all, heavy vehicles were diverted and an alternate route was suggested to them. Our personnel were stationed at those places where there were reports of jams so that the commuters do not face many problems.”
The official said that one-way road was kept open for vehicular movement even as the protests continued, while the other alternate route was via Mathura Road. "The situation is now under control and normal movement of vehicles is going on," the official said. An official said that after the protest, the SDMC officials had returned with bulldozers and did not carry out the sabotage action.
BJP only wants to do Hindu-Muslim
At the same time, some time ago news came out that AAP MLA Amanatullah Khan also reached the spot. Here he protested with the local people against the action of South Delhi Municipal Corporation (SDMC). During this, he said that there is no encroachment here, where is the encroachment, tell the MCD? The encroachment in the area has been removed. We had removed the encroachment ourselves, MCD should go back. BJP only wants to do Hindu-Muslim.
